Narrative Extraction from Semantic Graphs (Short Paper)

Abstract
This paper proposes an interactive approach for narrative extraction from semantic graphs. The proposed approach extracts events from RDF triples, maps them to their corresponding attributes, and assembles them into a chronological sequence to form narrative graphs. The approach is evaluated on the Wikidata graph and achieves promising results in terms of narrative quality and coherence. The paper also discusses several avenues for future work, including the integration of machine learning, graph embedding methods and the exploration of advanced techniques for attention-based narrative labeling and semantic role labeling. Overall, the proposed method offers a promising approach to narrative extraction from semantic graphs and has the potential to be useful in various applications, including chatbots, conversational agents, and content creation tools.

Toward Tool-Independent Summaries for Symbolic Execution

Abstract
We introduce a new symbolic reflection API for implementing tool-independent summaries for the symbolic execution of C programs. We formalise the proposed API as a symbolic semantics and extend two state-of-the-art symbolic execution tools with support for it. Using the proposed API, we implement 67 tool-independent symbolic summaries for a total of 26 libc functions. Furthermore, we present SumBoundVerify, a fully automatic summary validation tool for checking the bounded correctness of the symbolic summaries written using our symbolic reflection API. We use SumBoundVerify to validate 37 symbolic summaries taken from 3 state-of-the-art symbolic execution tools, angr, Binsec and Manticore, detecting a total of 24 buggy summaries.

Large Semantic Graph Summarization Using Namespaces

Abstract
We propose an approach to summarize large semantics graphs using namespaces. Semantic graphs based on the Resource Description Framework (RDF) use namespaces on their serializations. Although these namespaces are not part of RDF semantics, they have intrinsic meaning. Based on this insight, we use namespaces to create summary graphs of reduced size, more amenable to be visualized. In the summarization, object literals are also reduced to their data type and the blank nodes to a group of their own. The visualization created for the summary graph aims to give insight of the original large graph. This paper describes the proposed approach and reports on the results obtained with representative large semantic graphs.

Feedback Systems for Students Solving Problems Related to Polynomials of Degree Two or Lower

Abstract
In this paper, we present the first attempts to design and implement an algorithm that effectively responds to errors in a student’s resolution in problems related to polynomials of degree two or lower. The algorithm analyzes the student’s input by comparing pre-established resolution patterns. The obtained results of the implementation show that the algorithm is effective at the classes of problems created within the project’s scope. Future work will concern the expansion of the number of classes to other common types of problems, such as higher-degree polynomials, and its use at a large scale using open-source software with CAS capabilities.

Concolic Execution for WebAssembly (Artifact)

Abstract
This artifact contains the implementation of WASP, a symbolic execution engine for Wasm, and WASP-C, a symbolic execution framework for testing C programs built using WASP . WASP works directly on Wasm code and was built on top of a standard-compliant Wasm reference implementation [Andreas Haas et al., 2017]. WASP was thoroughly evaluated: it was used to symbolically test a generic data-structure library and the Amazon Encryption SDK for C, demonstrating that it can find bugs and generate high-coverage testing inputs for real-world C applications; WASP was further tested against the Test-Comp benchmark, obtaining results comparable to well-established symbolic execution and testing tools for C.

Concolic Execution for WebAssembly

Abstract
WebAssembly (Wasm) is a new binary instruction format that allows targeted compiled code written in high-level languages to be executed by the browser’s JavaScript engine with near-native speed. Despite its clear performance advantages, Wasm opens up the opportunity for bugs or security vulnerabilities to be introduced into Web programs, as pre-existing issues in programs written in unsafe languages can be transferred down to cross-compiled binaries. The source code of such binaries is frequently unavailable for static analysis, creating the demand for tools that can directly tackle Wasm code. Despite this potentially security-critical situation, there is still a noticeable lack of tool support for analysing Wasm binaries. We present WASP, a symbolic execution engine for testing Wasm modules, which works directly on Wasm code and was built on top of a standard-compliant Wasm reference implementation. WASP was thoroughly evaluated: it was used to symbolically test a generic data-structure library for C and the Amazon Encryption SDK for C, demonstrating that it can find bugs and generate high-coverage testing inputs for real-world C applications; and was further tested against the Test-Comp benchmark, obtaining results comparable to well-established symbolic execution and testing tools for C.

The Seesaw Algorithm: Function Optimization Using Implicit Hitting Sets

Abstract
The paper introduces the Seesaw algorithm, which explores the Pareto frontier of two given functions. The algorithm is complete and generalizes the well-known implicit hitting set paradigm. The first given function determines a cost of a hitting set and is optimized by an exact solver. The second, called the oracle function, is treated as a black-box. This approach is particularly useful in the optimization of functions that are impossible to encode into an exact solver. We show the effectiveness of the algorithm in the context of static solver portfolio selection. The existing implicit hitting set paradigm is applied to cost function and an oracle predicate. Hence, the Seesaw algorithm generalizes this by enabling the oracle to be a function. The paper identifies two independent preconditions that guarantee the correctness of the algorithm. This opens a number of avenues for future research into the possible instantiations of the algorithm, depending on the cost and oracle functions used.

Derzis: A Path Aware Linked Data Crawler

Abstract
Consuming Semantic Web data presents several challenges, from the number of datasets it is composed of, to the (very) large size of some of those datasets and the uncertain availability of querying endpoints. According to its core principles, accessing linked data can be done simply by dereferencing the IRIs of RDF resources. This is a light alternative both for clients and servers when compared to dataset dumps or SPARQL endpoints. The linked data interface does not support complex querying, but using it recursively may suffice to gather information about RDF resources, or to extract the relevant sub-graph which can then be processed and queried using other methods. We present Derzis, an open source semantic web crawler capable of traversing the linked data cloud starting from a set of seed resources. Derzis maintains information about the paths followed while crawling, which allows to define property path-based restrictions to the crawling frontier.

DataGen: JSON/XML Dataset Generator

Abstract
In this document we describe the steps towards DataGen implementation. DataGen is a versatile and powerful tool that allows for quick prototyping and testing of software applications, since currently too few solutions offer both the complexity and scalability necessary to generate adequate datasets in order to feed a data API or a more complex APP enabling those applications testing with appropriate data volume and data complexity. DataGen core is a Domain Specific Language (DSL) that was created to specify datasets. This language suffered several updates: repeating fields (with no limit), fuzzy fields (statistically generated), lists, highorder functions over lists, custom made transformation functions. The final result is a complex algebra that allows the generation of very complex datasets coping with very complex requirements. Throughout the paper we will give several examples of the possibilities. After generating a dataset DataGen gives the user the possibility to generate a RESTFull data API with that dataset, creating a running prototype. This solution has already been used in real life cases, described with more detail throughout the paper, in which it was able to create the intended datasets successfully. These allowed the application’s performance to be tested and for the right adjustments to be made. The tool is currently being deployed for general use.

MUAHAH: Taking the Most out of Simple Conversational Agents

Abstract
Dialog engines based on multi-agent architectures usually select a single agent, deemed to be the most suitable for a given scenario or for responding to a specific request, and disregard the answers from all of the other available agents. In this work, we present a multi-agent plug-and-play architecture that: (i) enables the integration of different agents; (ii) includes a decision maker module, responsible for selecting a suitable answer out of the responses of different agents. As usual, a single agent can be chosen to provide the final answer, but the latter can also be obtained from the responses of several agents, according to a voting scheme. We also describe three case studies in which we test several agents and decision making strategies; and show how new agents and a new decision strategy can be easily plugged in and take advantage of this platform in different ways. Experimentation also confirms that considering several agents contributes to better responses.

A Trusted Infrastructure for Symbolic Analysis of Event-Driven Web Applications (Artifact)

Abstract
This artifact contains the implementation of JaVerT.Click, a symbolic analysis tool for modern event-driven Web applications. The tool extends JaVerT 2.0, a state-of-the-art symbolic execution tool for JavaScript (JS), with JS reference implementations of the DOM Core Level 1, DOM UI Events, JavaScript Promises and the JavaScript async/await APIs, all underpinned by a simple Core Event Semantics which is sufficiently expressive to describe the event models underlying these APIs. Our reference implementations mostly follow the respective standards line-by-line and are all thoroughly tested against the official test suite. We also evaluate JaVerT.Click by performing symbolic analysis on two real-world libraries: cash and p-map, finding three previously unknown bugs.

A Trusted Infrastructure for Symbolic Analysis of Event-Driven Web Applications

Abstract
We introduce a trusted infrastructure for the symbolic analysis of modern event-driven Web applications. This infrastructure consists of reference implementations of the DOM Core Level 1, DOM UI Events, JavaScript Promises and the JavaScript async/await APIs, all underpinned by a simple Core Event Semantics which is sufficiently expressive to describe the event models underlying these APIs. Our reference implementations are trustworthy in that three follow the appropriate standards line-by-line and all are thoroughly tested against the official test-suites, passing all the applicable tests. Using the Core Event Semantics and the reference implementations, we develop JaVerT.Click, a symbolic execution tool for JavaScript that, for the first time, supports reasoning about JavaScript programs that use multiple event-related APIs. We demonstrate the viability of JaVerT.Click by proving both the presence and absence of bugs in real-world JavaScript code.

DAOLOT: A Semantic Browser

Abstract
The goal of the Semantic Web is to allow the software agents around us and AIs to extract information from the Internet as easily as humans do. This semantic web is a network of connected graphs, where relations between concepts and entities make up a layout that is very easy for machines to navigate. At the moment, there are only a few tools that enable humans to navigate this new layer of the Internet, and those that exist are for the most part very specialized tools that require from the user a lot of pre-existing knowledge about the technologies behind this structure. In this article we report on the development of DAOLOT, a search engine that allows users with no previous knowledge of the semantic web to take full advantage of its information network. This paper presents its design, the algorithm behind it and the results of the validation testing conducted with users. The results of our validation testing show that DAOLOT is useful and intuitive to users, even those without any previous knowledge of the field, and provides curated information from multiple sources instantly about any topic.

Subsumer: A Prolog theta-subsumption engine

Abstract
State-of-the-art theta-subsumption engines like Django (C) and Resumer2 (Java) are implemented in imperative languages. Since theta-subsumption is inherently a logic problem, in this paper we explore how to efficiently implement it in Prolog. theta-subsumption is an important problem in computational logic and particularly relevant to the Inductive Logic Programming (ILP) community as it is at the core of the hypotheses coverage test which is often the bottleneck of an ILP system. Also, since most of those systems are implemented in Prolog, they can immediately take advantage of a Prolog based theta-subsumption engine. We present a relatively simple (~1000 lines in Prolog) but efficient and general theta-subsumption engine, Subsumer. Crucial to Subsumer's performance is the dynamic and recursive decomposition of a clause in sets of independent components. Also important are ideas borrowed from constraint programming that empower Subsumer to efficiently work on clauses with up to several thousand literals and several dozen distinct variables. Using the notoriously challenging Phase Transition dataset we show that, cputime wise, Subsumer clearly outperforms the Django subsumption engine and is competitive with the more sophisticated, state-of-the-art, Resumer2. Furthermore, Subsumer's memory requirements are only a small fraction of those engines and it can handle arbitrary Prolog clauses whereas Django and Resumer2 can only handle Datalog clauses.
