Geometric modeling: Challenges for Additive Manufacturing, Design and Analysis (Dagstuhl Seminar 24241)

Authors: Tor Dokken, Xiaohong Jia, Géraldine Morin, Elissa Ross, and Zoë Marschner

Published in: Dagstuhl Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6 (2024)

Abstract
This report documents the program and the outcomes of Dagstuhl Seminar 24241 "Geometric modeling: Challenges for Additive Manufacturing, Design and Analysis". The seminar has returned to the on-site participants only format. On-site participation is essential for establishing a good dialogue between participants. The industry participation was higher than in previous events. Many of the participants were newcomers that brought new ideas and life into the discussions. This report summarizes the seminar communications by providing the abstracts of the talks which present recent results in geometric modeling and its applications. Organized scientific exchanges were structured into three working groups that each provided a report included in this document. The working group reports highlight new and future challenges within Geometric Modeling in general, and its use within Additive Manufacturing, Isogeometric Analysis, and Design Optimization.

Geometric Modeling: Interoperability and New Challenges (Dagstuhl Seminar 21471)

Authors: Falai Chen, Tor Dokken, and Géraldine Morin

Published in: Dagstuhl Reports, Volume 11, Issue 10 (2022)

Abstract
This report documents the program and the outcomes of Dagstuhl Seminar 21471 "Geometric Modeling: Interoperability and New Challenges". This seminar was initially planned on May 2021, and was delayed due to the pandemic. The seminar took place as a hybrid version with on site and remote participants. It provided a great opportunity for exchanges which, as pointed out by participants, were very appreciated in this period where international scientific interactions have been diminished. This report summarizes the seminar communications, first by providing the abstracts of the talks which present recent results in geometric modeling. Moreover, the scientific exchanges during the seminar provided a great basis for scientific discussions that resulted to the included five reports which highlight the new and future challenges in Geometric Modeling.

Geometric Modelling, Interoperability and New Challenges (Dagstuhl Seminar 17221)

Authors: Falai Chen, Chen Dokken, Thomas A. Grandine, and Géraldine Morin

Published in: Dagstuhl Reports, Volume 7, Issue 5 (2018)

Abstract
This report documents the program and the outcomes of Dagstuhl Seminar 17221 "Geometric Modelling, Interoperability and New Challenges". While previous Dagstuhl seminars on geometric modeling were focused on basic research, this seminar was focused on applications of geometric modeling to four topic areas: big data and cloud computing, multi-material additive manufacturing, isogeometric analysis, and design optimization. For this purpose we brought together participants from industry urgently in need of better solutions, researchers in the above application areas, and researchers in the geometric modeling community.
