Abstract
This report documents the program and the outcomes of Dagstuhl Seminar 11042 ``Learning from the Past: Implications for the Future Internet and its Management?''. The discussion centered around the question if by analyzing the past - especially why certain technologies did or did not succeed - it is possible to reason about the Future Internet, the challenges and especially the management aspect. Valuable observations have been identified during the discussions. A scientific publication that summarizes the key findings is under preparation.

Abstract
From January 27 to January 30, 2009 the Dagstuhl Seminar No. 09052 on "Management of the Future Internet" was held in Schloß Dagstuhl, Leibniz Center for Informatics. During the seminar, several participants presented their current research and ongoing work, and open problems were discussed. Abstracts of these presentations given during the seminar as well as abstracts of seminar results and ideas are put together in this report. The first section describes the overall seminar goals and topics. The second section lists available abstracts. And the third section refers to a full paper in the appendix, which was directly written based on one of the discussions taking place.

Abstract
The telecommunications sector and the Internet section of Internet Service Providers (ISP) have become a dynamic key area for the economic development of industrialized nations in the world. It is in constant evolution. Because of intense competition, telecommunications companies and ISPs are forced to diversify their offers and thus to propose an increasing number of services. However, economic analysis often ignores important technical aspects of telecommunications and is not aware of new developments. Engineering models often ignore economic factors. Thus, the design and deployment of future networks that incorporate new services are subject to uncertainties such as equipment and capacity prices (due to technological innovation), demand and supply for services (due to competition). Seeing leading researchers bringing together with various backgrounds, all working on innovative aspects of technical, techno-economic, social, and regulatory issues, lead to the following four main areas that have been – partially – tackled in an integrated manner: - Architectural side, - Social side, - Economic and business side, and - Regulatory side.

Parameterized Complexity of Directed Traveling Salesman Problem

Abstract
The Directed Traveling Salesman Problem (DTSP) is a variant of the classical Traveling Salesman Problem in which the edges in the graph are directed and a vertex and edge can be visited multiple times. The goal is to find a directed closed walk of minimum length (or total weight) that visits every vertex of the given graph at least once. In a yet more general version, Directed Waypoint Routing Problem (DWRP), some vertices are marked as terminals and we are only required to visit all terminals. Furthermore, each edge has its capacity bounding the number of times this edge can be used by a solution. While both problems (and many other variants of TSP) were extensively investigated, mostly from the approximation point of view, there are surprisingly few results concerning the parameterized complexity. Our starting point is the result of Marx et al. [APPROX/RANDOM 2016] who proved that DTSP is W[1]-hard parameterized by distance to pathwidth 3. In this paper we aim to initiate the systematic complexity study of variants of Directed Traveling Salesman Problem with respect to various, mostly structural, parameters. We show that DWRP is FPT parameterized by the solution size, the feedback edge number and the vertex integrity of the underlying undirected graph. Furthermore, the problem is XP parameterized by treewidth. On the complexity side, we show that the problem is W[1]-hard parameterized by the distance to constant treedepth.

Money in Motion: Micro‑Velocity and Usage of Ethereum’s Liquid Staking Tokens

Abstract
We introduce a micro-velocity framework for analysing the on-chain circulation of Lido’s liquid-staking tokens, stETH, and its wrapped ERC-20 form, wstETH. By reconstructing full transfer and share-based accounting histories, we compute address-level velocities and decompose them into behavioural components. Despite their growing importance, the micro-level monetary dynamics of LSTs remain largely unexplored. Our data reveal persistently high velocity for both tokens, reflecting intensive reuse within DeFi. Yet activity is highly concentrated: a small cohort of large addresses, likely institutional accounts, are responsible for most turnover, while the rest of the users remain largely passive. We also observe a gradual transition in user behavior, characterized by a shift toward wstETH, the non-rebasing variant of stETH. This shift appears to align with DeFi composability trends, as wstETH is more frequently deployed across protocols such as AAVE, Spark, Balancer, and SkyMoney. To make the study fully reproducible, we release (i) an open-source pipeline that indexes event logs and historical contract state, and (ii) two public datasets containing every Transfer and TransferShares record for stETH and wstETH through 2024-11-08. This is the first large-scale empirical characterisation of liquid-staking token circulation. Our approach offers a scalable template for monitoring staking asset flows and provides new, open-access resources to the research community.

Rethinking IoT Education: Is the Concept Truly Grasped?

Abstract
This paper focuses on the topic of the Internet of Things (abbr. IoT) in the context of higher education and academic understanding of it. When briefly looking at the IoT course curriculum at our department, we suspected that the curriculum contents are not adhering to the definition of IoT. The goal of our work was to pinpoint the correct definition of IoT, which can be used to bring contents of the IoT courses as close to the truth as possible. Secondarily, we reviewed available articles and reviews of formerly and currently taught IoT or related courses and evaluated whether their approach and contents were correct when considering the definition of IoT. We summarise the issues present in existing works and identify which specific parts are problematic, according to our assessment. Improving IoT courses is crucial since it shapes a student’s understanding of the IoT paradigm and allows them to use it or even develop it in the future. Provisioning our students with a needed set of skills will make them more suitable for research, development, and industry-related futures.

Abstract
Openly available, collaboratively edited Knowledge Graphs (KGs) are key platforms for the collective management of evolving knowledge. The present work aims t o provide an analysis of the obstacles related to investigating and processing specifically this central aspect of evolution in KGs. To this end, we discuss (i) the dimensions of evolution in KGs, (ii) the observability of evolution in existing, open, collaboratively constructed Knowledge Graphs over time, and (iii) possible metrics to analyse this evolution. We provide an overview of relevant state-of-the-art research, ranging from metrics developed for Knowledge Graphs specifically to potential methods from related fields such as network science. Additionally, we discuss technical approaches - and their current limitations - related to storing, analysing and processing large and evolving KGs in terms of handling typical KG downstream tasks.
